The Story of “Let Me Live”
The song, “Let Me Live,” grew from the hearts of Jenny Galiani and Maria Malone and our experience as adoptive mothers.
In September of 2008, we were driving home from orientation for the Church Ministry Institute program we enrolled in, a 3 year formation program for lay people in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. During our drive, we talked about our children, their sometimes difficult stories of how they came to be our children and the amazing women that gave birth to them, their birth mothers. We can’t imagine the world without these beautiful, precious children. We are in awe of the faith, strength and courage demonstrated by our children’s birth mothers as they chose life for their child and made an adoption plan for them. It’s absolutely heartbreaking for us to know that so many women don’t choose life for their children. We thought, what if those unborn children could speak, what would they say? Our talk in the car inspired Jenny to start a poem, Maria added more and together we created a poem that was the voice of an unborn child, speaking to his/her mother. Since then, our dream has been to bring these words to life in a song. What if a woman faced with an unplanned pregnancy heard this song and chose life for her child like our children’s birth mothers did? Could it save a life? Years passed and opportunities to create a song never came together. In November 2013, Maria and her husband went on a cruise with John Angotti, world renowned Christian music recording artist and speaker (www.johnangotti.com). During the cruise, John talked about his experience as an adopted child and his experience with his birth parents. That’s when we knew that John was the right person to bring our words to life. Thankfully, John said YES, and wholeheartedly agreed to write, produce and perform this beautiful song. John brought not only his gift of music to this project but also his personal experience with adoption.
It is with great joy that we bring this song to you.
